A Day with the Cousins!
Hi, everybody! Today I had a wonderful day with my cousins from Israel. I have mentioned them before in my previous article that I wrote. Let me tell you how all of this happened right from the beginning. So, if you live in Maryland you probably know about a huge storm that recently occurred. It was almost a tornado! Since then, people’s homes have lost power. In fact, my house lost power. We had no air conditioning and were very hot! Luckily, that was only for a day. But, some camps that are held at school closed down for the days. My camp got canceled since Monday because of the storm. It was a disastrous storm, even though it was only about ten minutes. Since there wasn’t camp for the past few days, I’ve been very bored. This morning, my mom asked my dad to look at the camp website to check to see if the camp was closed again. He said that on the website it said it was open from nine o’clock to three o’clock as usual. So, we got up and almost drove all the way to the camp. We almost arrived at the camp, until I heard a sudden gasp from my mom. She was talking on the phone with her good friend. I was wondering why my mom sounded so surprised. When she hung up the phone, she said that her friend said that the camp was closed. To check, we went up closer to the camp to see. And believe it or not, there was a sign that said closed. At first, we thought my dad was crazy and read the wrong sentence on the website. My mom was freaking out because she didn’t know what to do. She said she had a meeting at work in an hour. At first she thought of taking Jamie (my older sister), Sofie (my younger sister), and me to work with her. She called her boss Fran and said that she couldn’t bring all three of us. My mom thought it’d be unprofessional. Then, my mom told Fran that she’d have to miss the meeting because my dad’s mom that I call Nana offered us to see a movie with our cousins Liat and Daniele. My mom had to drive all the way from Holton-Arms to Olney. My mom realized that my dad read the right sentence right before they changed it to say that it was closed! Can you believe it? My Nana and my Grandpa had to work so a good babysitter named Carrie babysat Liat, Daniele, Jamie, Sofie, and me. I don’t know how she handled it! Her mom helped out though. We were going to see the new movie that’s based on the books. It’s called Ramona and Beezus. But, before we did that, we played air hockey, Wii, and Jamie and Liat did make-overs. When we saw the movie, we all thought it was a pretty good movie. When my mom picked my sisters and me up at Nana and Grandpa’s house, she announced that we were taking Daniele and Liat home with us. My mom drove us all to our house and we were excited to see Nana and Grandpa who were waiting for us in my house. We all hung out together and played. We couldn’t decide where to go out to dinner. We decided to eat at a restaurant called Redrock Canyon at the Rio. The food was delicious. I got a potato soup with chopped bacon, green onions, and cheese. It was a small soup so I ate chicken tenders to go with it. Liat asked if we could have a sleepover, but my mom said no because we might have camp tomorrow. Or at least we hope.
We all had a fun time together. I love hanging out with my family.
